7 secrets to take the best Mummy Selfies ever

You are a blogger? So you must come across the problem of posting the best selfies possible. Not always easy, right? Pas de panique, I have it covered for you. Today, I am sharing with you 7 secrets for getting the best results possible. Those tips for incredible Mummy selfies come from some famous top model herself! Her name? She would rather stay anonyme

Without further delay, here are the top 7 tips to be the most amazing Mummy in the selfies’ world!

    • Hold the camera closer to your face
Do you really want to see my new wrinkles? And my bags under my eyes? Should I remind you that I am a mummy of un petit monstre? And therefore, I don’t get a lot of sleep? Makeup? Who has time for that those days? Baba loves me with or without any on my face. Most of the time, no makeup, and my hair is not even brushed!
    • Natural, indirect light is your friend
Well, autumn is clearly here so good luck to find a good light those days… I spend most of my time at home, being la parfaite housewife, cleaning the house and cooking fresh food for both Baba and Grumpy Boyfriend. Just kidding! I actually have Baba watching cartoons all day long while I blog as much as I can… My Parent Blogger score is not good at the minute as I am not posting as often as last month. I need to catch up! (And yes, I know. This new scoring system they put into place is a bit silly. I am in the top 100 parent bloggers when I am still a newbie. Not that my ego minds it, though ?).
    • Outdoor selfie? Try putting the sun directly behind your head
If I do that, people are going to think that I am a goddess coming from the sky… I can’t scare people off with my Frenchie beauty!
    • Want to show off/create some curves? Try a hand high on your hip, a popped knee, or crossed legs
Do I really want to create some extra curves? Not sure about this one as I already have (too?) many curves. Actually, if you could give me some tips on how to get rid of my main curve called a ‘mummy tummy’, you will have my eternal respect…
    • Lying down? Prop your head up with a pillow
Have you ever seen a maman lying down? C’est mission impossible with my best accessorize. You know, this thing we call a baby? Let’s not be dramatic. I actually manage to lie down at nights but I am fast to fall asleep, probably dribbling as I am so fatiguée… So the selfie will have to wait I am afraid!
    • Mirror selfie? Make sure you’re in natural light or being lit from the front
Oh, I see why all my selfies were rubbish so far! I didn’t quite get that…
selfie with a mirror
The attempt for the perfect mummy selfie, not quite there…
  • Selfies can be a fun, quick way to boost your self-esteem and show yourself some appreciation
I don’t need to boost my self-esteem! I have a gorgeous Baba with me at all times. People don’t look at me anymore! They look at him!

Disappointed with this post? Pardon if I tricked you a bit with the post title. But here are a few reasons why I don’t do selfies:

– I always look rubbish
– My head looks enormous
– I look so unnatural
– I am not 15 years old anymore!
– I can’t hold a baby and make sure that he doesn’t grab my camera at the same time!
– I am not a superstar (yet!)
– Boring!!!!
– Isn’t out of trend anyway?

A better mummy selfie. At least, I look fresh and relaxed!
A better mummy selfie. At least, I look fresh and relaxed!

What do you make of selfies? Do you love them or do you run away as fast as you can? Do you have any real secrets for getting the perfect Mummy selfie? Feel free to share!

This is so fun! I rarely take selfies, but I think I might start taking more of them now. You’re right, I should just love my wrinkles and tired eyes because I’m a momma and I earned them! 🙂

Good morning Cecile, haha, love it! I’ve never been one for photos at the best of time – behind the camera, yes, in front of , no – my face does funny things as I try to compensate for my lack of smile… My face really doesn’t smile well – no laughter lines here!

Other peoples ‘selfies’ do make me smile (enigmatically of course), they are more entertaining than anything . One’s taken in front of mirrors with ridiculous, ducklike expressions are the funniest!

Thank you for linking up to the #MMBC.

    xx

Great post and I concur most heartily!! I’m not a big one for Selfies as I can never press the button and hold the phone steady at the same time so any photos look like I’m just falling over!!
    Have a great day xx

Love this! I have a monkey who loves to ignore me when I call his name to try to get him to look in the mirror. I usually have to flip the screen so he sees his face and then I have a baby who I can control haha

I think selfies are going out of fashion now, no? lol I hate the people who post ten thousand selfies of them every day all day! I don’t care about your kissy face haha. I think you look beautiful in your selfie though and more natural than the ones I see on Instagram. I love this post really made me laugh, totally agree on the sun point and the laying down point, I would have the mother of all double chins! Thanks for sharing with #GlobalBlogging!

Anything that lets me put filters or airbrush is my secret to selfies. I have a love hate relationship with selfies. Most of my pictures of me with my baba are selfies because I hate other people taking my picture so they hold a bit of a special place in my heart now. #effitfriday

I hate taking pictures of myself but as a blogger have had to get over it… a little. I don’t think I could ever take myself seriously if I was a fashion blogger, but I can take pictures of the ridiculous things we do at home and it’s okay.

Haha fab post, had me giggling. There is a reason why my blog profile picture is me upside down, pulling a face and with a nice filter. Because I look so bloody tired and scraggly most of the time. I even attempted to use a selfie stick which I hit myself in the face with. My son just shook his head and went to play with batman…#chucklemums xx
