How to have the best camping holiday this Summer – 5 Frenchie tips!

I am a diva! Fact. So when we go on holiday, I want to visit a spa hotel with the biggest swimming pool possible. I am not going to lie to you and say that I like camping. It’s my idea of hell! But when I think about it, I had good memories from past camping holidays! I was looking back at our Summer 2011 last week and it reminded how much fun we had! That year, I was just about to start my current job in September and Grumpy Boyfriend created his own business. So we had to get something cheap and quick. After visiting my family, we drove to France, deep down in the countryside and we went to three different campsites. Looking back at it, I realise that we made great memories out there. The Summer is coming up soon. Are you looking for a holiday on a certain budget? Or are you after something adventurous? Check this out now! We have here 5 tips telling you how to have the best camping holiday this Summer!

Get the right equipment

Get the parfaite tent to be comfy wherever you are staying. A stylish one if you are a fashionista like Baba and I or a family version if you have a big tribe to accommodate. Whatever you needs are, there is something for everyone.

Take all your essentials: bikinis, sexy pairs of shades, high heels to look glamorous on a night out… In other words, anything that make you feel like you are a princess!

Don’t forget some key accessories for him: a gas cooker, a fishing stick or anything your other half would like to use. While in France in 2011, Grumpy Boyfriend was very keen on showing me his cookery skills and anything else he learnt as a Scout.

What are you cooking tonight darling?

He was also very proud to put up the tent on his own. Personnellement, I was more than happy to watch him do it and relax.

Drink some wine!

La vérité? I was probably looking at Grumpy Boyfriend drinking a good Merlot. So this is definitely our second tip of how to have the best camping holiday this Summer!

Make sure you have all that you want. For me, it was wine. You might prefer some other boisson. It doesn’t matter, Make sure that you have plenty of it. And don’t forget that you are on holiday. So no cooking nor cleaning! Get your husband and the kids to do it for you! After all, you do enough the rest of the year.

But your tribe needs to have fun too!

Make sure the kids have something fun planned!

You got the concept. All you want to do it chillaxing and enjoying some good wine. In other words, get rid of les enfants! Book a campsite with a swimming pool or a children’s club. They will take care of everything and you will have more time for yourself. Don’t forget to check out our latest post on the blog. Pack up your tablet so that you don’t miss our Frenchie adventures!

In the pool with the kids!

Une piscine is the best! You might also make use of it while sipping some vino and get a tan.

Use your boyfriend or husband’s stuff

Your clothes are too precious for you to sit on the floor or you simply don’t have any walking shoes (I never ever bought a pair! A fact that I am very proud of!)? Time to get some or maybe not? C’est simple. Borrow your other half’s stuff. They don’t care if it gets damaged or dirty. Plus, you are working on your boyish style, which is totally trendy this year!

A younger Frenchie Mummy rocking it with his (awful!) jacket 🙂

I followed this tip very well in 2011 as there was no way I was going to buy an outdoors jacket. I am town girl! Since then, I actually agreed on buying a Barbour jacket, but only because it is posh and stylish.

So what do you thing about our best idées to have the best camping experience possible? Oh, hold on! I forgot un point très important if you decide to go camping abroad!

Get to know the locals and practise the language!

Going on a camping holiday is super friendly. So you must mix up with the locals and residents from other countries as much as possible. The first night we arrived at our campsite in the South of France, we discovered that a local dog left a massive poo on our spot.

Frenchie Mummy being too tired and wanting to tease a bit le boyfriend, she sent him out to ask the reception to remove it.

10 minutes later and Grumpy Boyfriend came back very proud telling me that he managed to explain the situation at the reception. La crotte (the naughty poop!) was quickly removed and we could peacefully resume our holiday! We went straight up to the lake and had a swim. Followed by a lot of wine for her and some beers for him!
