Goodlife Vegetarian Food Review

As I explained in my last Living Arrows post, Grumpy Boyfriend was celebrating his birthday last week. This year is a big one for him (I won’t tell you how old he is exactly but just be aware that he is not getting any younger… like Frenchie Mummy vraiment!). My partner decided that it was going to be the start of a new life. He chose not to eat meat anymore. Quoi? He is living with a Frenchie and he has decided to give up on one of the favourite Frenchie meals? I know, terrible choice… Or maybe not? After all, being vegetarian is healthy. I agreed to go for it. Next step was to find new recipes and ideas for our family. I recently discovered Goodlife, a great brand which aims to create delicious frozen vegetarian meals for you and your family. So we tried some of their products and today is our Goodlife Vegetarian Food Review.

Ready to become vegetarian?

I hope you will enjoy it and you may even consider giving up meat yourself! After all, Frenchie Mummy was far from being convinced at first but she might have enjoyed some of the food we tried… Read out more here our full Goodlife Vegetarian Food Review.

We tried three products from the Goodlife range:

  • Mushroom and Spinach Kievs
  • French Bean and Spinach Sausages
  • Falafels

Mushroom and Spinach Kiev

I am usually not a big fan of kievs. I find them way too fatty and greasy. Plus every time you cook them, they make the oven quite dirty. You know me, I will do the minimum level of cleaning...

Therefore, the Goodlife Mushroom and Spinach Kiev is a great alternative, especially if you want to try some new veggie food. Grumpy Boyfriend didn’t like it much because of its garlic and cream cheese sauce (he doesn’t like le fromage. I know! Crazy to think that he lives with a Frenchie!). But I loved it! The combination of mushroom and spinach was perfect. The kievs were also really crunchy. The perfect match with some rice and salad.

French Bean and Spinach Sausages

My partner preferred les saucisses. This time, he was not bothered with the Wensleydale cheese in it. He said he barely tasted it. Frenchie Mummy will make sure she will keep some of those sausages in the freezer just in case she doesn’t feel like cooking one night…

What did I like the most in those? The crisp French beans, sweet petit pois (so Frenchie) added to the fresh spinach with a pinch of nutmeg for good measure. You have your dose of healthy vegetables in one sausage!

Le plus? They are not fatty (as normal meaty sausages) and you can match them up with some mashed potatoes or pasta. Or anything else that you fancy!

I would also be very curieuse to try their Tomato & Mozzarella Sausages. They look way up my street with a good dose of cheese. They are next on my shopping list!

Falafels

The Goodlife Falafels were definitely mes préférées! I just loved them and I reckon I could eat some every week! Add up a bit of a yoghurt dip and you are done! Easy to cook (only 12 minutes in the oven), enjoy them in a delicious, warm flatbread or on their own with some salad and you are full!

They were just fantastic with the right balance regarding spices. I hate it when my food is way too épicée and I can’t taste anything!

Goodlife Vegetarian Food Review – Le verdict

Being Frenchie, I usually prefer cooking fresh food. Even if I am far from being a chef in the kitchen I am able to do some basic meals as I know the importance of a healthy diet. Furthermore, I want to teach Baba good principles and I strongly believe in cooking from scratch rather than buying ready meals that are usually full of salt or sugar.

However, I really enjoyed trying those  3 products from the Goodlife vegetarian range.

Goodlife’s mission is to put vegetables in the spotlight, celebrating them in all their natural glory! Mission accomplie in my opinion! I am convinced and I will for sure have some of their products in my freezer to help Grumpy Boyfriend towards his new healthy lifestyle.

Goodlife Vegetarian Food Review – Why we like it

  • their products are packed with fabulous ingredients such as spinach (super healthy!)
  • it contains very little salt and sugar (I am at war against sugar. I spend most of my shopping time checking out labels to see what percentage of the white powder each item contains)
  • it’s fast and easy to cook
  • it helps busy mummies to cook healthy food for their little tribe when they don’t feel like cooking!
  • Goodlife has a very varied range of products: everyone can find happiness!

So, ready to turn vegetarian yourself? Check out the Goodlife’s stockists to buy some of their goodies too!

I hope you liked reading our Goodlife Vegetarian Food Review as much as I liked trying those products!

I will see you soon for new adventures in the kitchen I am sure! Frenchie Mummy is not such a terrible housewife; you see she even cooks delicious meals sometimes!

Disclosure: This post was commissioned by Goodlife. However, all opinions are my own. In the meantime, off to have more of those tasty falafels! I might even turn completely vegetarian… Who knows?

Enjoy trying some veggie foods! I quite enjoy falafels and veggie sausages, I don’t think I could 100% give up meat though, I love it too much. Happy Birthday to grumpy boyfriend. #kcacols
