Toddlekind®
You have probably come across Toddlekind in the past. If you like following cool mummy bloggers, many have one in their nursery. Those super cool playmats are all over Instagram with its soft colours and cool designs.
The whole shop is very recent as it was only founded in early 2018 by Samantha Brueckner. As a mum of two, she struggled to find a stylish yet safe playmat for her little ones. And the idée of Toddlekind® was born!
All the playmats are suitable for all ages – 0+ Months and are compliant to sell in Europe.
A Bit More Behind Toddlekind®
If like moi, you are a bit of a linguist, you would have noticed the dual nationality in the label’s name. Indeed, Samantha’ family is half British, half German.
So the playmat is basically named after the word ‘toddler‘ (small child in English) and ‘kind‘, which means ‘child’ in German. It is like the chocolate Kinder because it is for children 🙂
The brand has two ranges of playmats. The Persian Collection as Samantha is half Persian. It is more of a shabby chic style with paler colours.
Whereas the Nordic Collection is more influenced by the Scandinavian style with more intense colours and very modern lines in the designs.
Our Toddlekind® Playmat
We went for the Nordic version in petroleum. I wanted something quite dark to stand out with the rest of our living room. Designed in Germany, the playmat measures 120 x 180cm so it is big enough for several kids to have fun.
I mainly used it as a mat for Baba to play in the living room while I work in the dining area, but it would also look very pretty in his bedroom or outside in the garden this Summer.
The whole item consists of 6 tiles and some edging bonding to get it all together. And the beauty of such a concept? You can create any style of playmat and even use the squares individually.
For more fun, you can even attach several Toddlekind® Playmats together for a bigger surface!
5 Things We Love
The Toddlekind® Playmat has been a big succés in our household for the last few months, so much that I have kept it in the living room and not put it upstairs. There are so many features we love!
- J’adore its colour and its design. It adds up a touch of modernism to our room. Plus in the petroleum shade, it doesn’t stain
- Even when you spill things or get it dirty (it always happens with little kids!), it is so easy to clean it. Simply detach the square in question and wipe it
- Because of its puzzle system, you can create whatever you want with it. And you don’t have to use all 6 bits together all the time. As Baba is potty training, I used to leave a square in the bathroom to put his potty on. No mark on the floor and it was creating his own space in the toilet to do his business!
- Our Toddlekind® Playmat is easily transportable. Each pack contains 6 tiles so that you can disassemble them, and pack them in the car if you want to take it on holidays or when you go for a short break
- And with this system of tiles, you can also store it without taking too much space in your room when you are done!

We love our Toddlekind® Playmat. It makes a stylish area for play and as you can see from our pictures, the lines are a hit with Baba too!
I might not have followed à la lettre the pattern explained on the brand’s website, but it is the magic of this item. You can do whatever you want with it depending on what you need!
Plus its design similar to a puzzle means it can fit any space for a bespoke sizing!
