Bonjour lecteurs! I know I usually share about all the glam of living in the country… But today is a more down to earth post. The sun is hot and the football is on. The last thing you would like to happen would be for your fridge to break down! Refrigerators are one of the most important appliances in our kitchen. So c’est important to look out for problems and get them fixed fast to avoid your food getting affected. Here are some of the common fridge faults to look out for and how to avoid it.
Cooling issues
It’s probably one of the most common problèmes with fridges.
Indeed, a refrigerator not cooling enough could lead to spoiled food.
La cause? It might be that your refrigerator is too close to a heat source such as an oven or radiator.
Or there could simply be too much food crammed into your fridge, disrupting the airflow and therefore the cool stop.
Another common problème is a dirty condenser coils or blocked air vents (both of which you can clean yourself).
But the list doesn’t stop here and it worth also checking out your fan, in which case you may want to hire a professional.
Water leaks
In my opinion, this can be the most damaging issues with a refrigerator.
Is your refrigerator leaking water? First stop, check that the freezer is working properly. It could simply be ice coming from there.
Pas la source du problème? Then it’s worth checking out all the various water components.
Par exemple, it could be an issue with your water inlet valves or the water tanks. Call your local technician and they can easily fix it.
Loud noises
It’s normal for refrigerators to make noises during refrigeration cycles, but when to get worried?
A buzzing or clicking sound could be a fault compressor that will need replacing. and if you hear a rattling or grinding sound , then it’s probably the fan that needs to be looked at.
In either case, you’ll want to call un techinicien professionel to fix these problems, as the cause is likely an internal part.
Ice in the refrigerator
It’s also worth checking your temperature settings. Your refrigerator shouldn’t be freezing.
The right temperature should be between 3°C and 4.5°C. I am always checking mine because it happens quick to push the button by accident when you store your groceries!
A damaged door could also cause ice in your refrigerator (look spécialement for the humid air that could be getting in and freezing).
Removing all food and defrosting your refrigerator is the easiest way to get rid of all the current ice, so that you can get your fridge back to a normal state.
Ice build-up in the freezer
As for the freezer, there shouldn’t be huge build-ups of ice.
If that’s the case, it could affect your ability to store items in there and you may not even be able to open up the drawers. Plus it would mean that humid air has got into the freezer and turned to ice. So you can’t conserve as well your food in there.
Double check that the seals are not damaged and check again your settings. C’est simple to get rid off any excès of ice: let it melt by turning off your freezer. Just remove any frozen food first.
Et voilà! Have you ever had big problèmes with your fridge? And which one of those cuisines is your fav? ????
